Hamburger Meat Recipes
There are many different types of meat you can use for making hamburger meat at home. If you choose to use ox meat, be sure grind it twice because ox meat can be quite tough. If you intend to use wild meats, it is recommended that you ground them twice. Even beef can be quite tough if it is unfattened meat from the range.
If you plan to grind the meat at home yourself, you will find the task a lot easier if you let the meat chill down for a few hours first. For beef, the best cuts would be chuck and round. Chuck is the meat that is taken from the shoulder and round in taken from the top of the rear leg. Once you have ground the meat, you should use it quickly. If you intend to keep them in the freezer, be sure to freeze them for more than 2 days. Below is a nice recipe for making hamburger meat whirls:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon chopped green pepper
- 1/3 cup chopped celery
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 recipe bisquick biscuits
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- pepper
Instructions:
1. Preheat the skillet and brown the onions until golden.
2. Add in the ground beef, celery, green pepper, salt and pepper. Continue stir frying a little then sprinkle in the flour and add in the water.
3. Continue cooking until the mixture is thick. Be sure to stir constantly.
4. Make biscuits with bisquick and roll out to about 1/2" thick.
5. Spread the meat mixture over all and roll as for jelly roll.
6. Cut it and bake for 20 minutes at 425°F (218°C).
7. Serve and enjoy!
